Use of false teeth to bridge the gap in the oral cavity

Smile restoration, ability to chew, speech restoration, maintain shape of the face, prevent shifting of teeth.
TYPES
o Traditional: Use of natural existing teeth on both sides to hold the bridge
o Cantilever: Use of only 1 natural tooth for the abutment to hold the bridge
o Maryland: Similar to tradition with an additional framework that is bonded to the abutment tooth
o Implant Supported: Bridge is held with an implant rather than an existing abutment tooth (surgery required)
