DEFINITION & TYPES
Oral Cancer Screening is to detect, diagnose, and treat oral cancer. There are two main types of Oral Cancer.
o In the oral cavity (lips, cheeks, teeth, gums, front two-thirds of the tongue, roof/floor of the mouth
o Oropharynx (middle of the throat, tonsils, base of the tongue)
SYMPTOMS
o Persistent sore or irritation
o Red/white patches
o Persistent pain or tenderness or numbness
o Irregular lumps
o Difficulty in chewing, swallowing, speaking
WHAT TO DO?
o Regular dental checkups
o Voice all concerns or issues
o Avoid tobacco use
